The Oil Factory
Located on a small peninsula in Norway’s Lofoten Islands' Nusfjord lies an old cod liver oil factory ('trandamperiet'). The distinctive yellow paint gains its colour from the mix of ochre and cod liver oil. The colour yellow was often used to denote commercial premises.
Nusfjord was a relatively easy day trip from our an initial Lofoten Islands base at Ballstad, down an stunningly picturesque road. Nusfjord was a great town to explore, with old buildings making the place a living museum.
I found the photography here to be challenging. There were so many wonderful sights, but finding compositions was not easy. I am very happy with this one, isolating the old factory, the amazing sky and the spectacular mountains behind.
