Eystrahorn

Eystrahorn

Located near to the more famous Vestrahorn in Iceland’s south-east, Eystrahorn is another stunning mountain range rising 756m over the adjacent coastline.

Driving clockwise on Iceland’s ring road, the jagged cliffs of Eystrahorn were a distinctive landmark as we did the relatively long drive from Seydisfjordur to Hofn. A short drive off the highway towards a lonely lighthouse provided a wonderful vantage point.

Eystrahorn is a relatively lesser known feature in Iceland. Most people will get as far east as Hofn when travelling from Reykjavik, and visit the Stokksnes Peninsula to view Vestrahorn, but they don’t go that bit further east.

I would love to explore this area a little more in a future trip to Iceland.
